“Palestine through the Language of the Brush” Art Exhibition Opens at YTB

Perşembe, Nisan 9, 2026

Hosted by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), the painting exhibition titled “Palestine through the Language of the Brush” has officially opened.

Prepared by students of the Faculty of Design and Applied Arts at Palestine Technical University and hosted by YTB, the exhibition explores Palestinian identity, memory, and the national cause from an artistic perspective. The opening took place at the Presidency’s Rumelia Culture and Art Hall.

The ceremony was attended by Hasan Turan, Administrative Chief of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) and Chairman of the Türkiye-Palestine Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group; Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, former Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Services; Abdulhadi Turus, President of YTB; Khaled Yousef Jameel Staitia, an academic from Palestine Technical University and exhibition coordinator, along with numerous invited guests.

In his opening speech, YTB President Abdulhadi Turus underlined that the world is facing a system devoid of conscience and rationality that attempts to prove murdered innocent children are guilty. He stated, “We say ‘stop’ to this. We say ‘stop’ through art.”

Reaffirming Türkiye’s stance, Turus said, “As a nation, we will continue to stand by the oppressed and defend their rights.” He emphasized that YTB remains committed to bringing Palestinian students to Türkiye for their education and expressed his belief that the Gaza issue will eventually reach victory, allowing such exhibitions to be held there as well.

Hasan Turan, Administrative Chief of TBMM and Chairman of the Türkiye-Palestine Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, noted in his speech that the region is in a complete circle of fire due to the situation in Palestine. He remarked, “As long as this problem is not resolved, this high fever will persist, and unfortunately, our geography will face war and mass killings. The culprits are undoubtedly the occupying Zionist Israel and the global powers behind it.”

Drawing attention to the fact that Israel's recklessness will continue as long as it is not held accountable, Turan said, “We are facing a mindset that kills 500 people just to eliminate one, slaughters everyone without discriminating between children and adults, and levels entire neighborhoods.” He added that civilization is built through poetry, literature, thought, and works presented to humanity, stating, “You cannot destroy this by bombing it. You cannot eliminate it.”

Khaled Yousef Jameel Staitia, representing Palestine Technical University, emphasized that art is a universal language capable of building bridges between societies and expressing the deepest emotions. He noted, “These works are not just artistic productions; they are a living pulse reflecting the true desire to hold onto one's own land.” Staitia expressed his hope that this event would be the beginning of a series of new cultural activities that will strengthen communication bridges and open wider horizons for joint artistic endeavors.

Following the opening program, the “YTB Talks” program aimed at enriching the world of ideas through meaning and experience featured writer Taha Kılınç, who shed light on the present and future of the Islamic world.
