YTB President Abdulhadi Turus Conducted Intensive Contacts in Bulgaria

Abdulhadi Turus, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), conducted a series of contacts in Sofia, Plovdiv, Momchilgrad (Mestanlı), and Nanovitsa as part of his visit to Bulgaria.


In Sofia, Turus visited Dr. Ahmed Hasanov, who was elected to the position of Grand Mufti of the Chief Muftiate of the Muslims of the Republic of Bulgaria, and Dr. Mustafa Alish Hadzhi, who was elected as the President of the Supreme Muslim Council. During the meetings, efforts to contribute to the religious, cultural, and educational lives of the related communities and the Muslim society in Bulgaria, as well as cooperation opportunities for the youth, were discussed.

​Turus subsequently visited the Sofia Higher Islamic Institute and the Sofia Imam Hatip High School at their new buildings. Drawing attention to the importance these educational institutions carry in terms of raising young people with a sense of identity and belonging, Turus expressed that support for these institutions will continue.

​Visiting the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Plovdiv, Turus later met with Türkiye Alumni at the Plovdiv Dzhumaya Mosque Library. During the meeting, evaluations were made regarding the activities carried out by the alumni, the strengthening of their bonds with Türkiye, and their contributions to the bridges of friendship between the two countries.

​Meeting with Mayor İlknur Kazim in Momchilgrad, Turus discussed efforts directed at the related communities in the region, along with potential collaborations that could be developed in the fields of youth, culture, and education. Turus then visited the village of Nanovitsa to meet with members of the related communities.

​Attending the 17th International Momchilgraders Meeting in the final part of his Bulgaria program, Turus stated that the gathering, which brings together people from Momchilgrad living in different countries, makes a significant contribution to strengthening cultural ties and solidarity.

​YTB President Abdulhadi Turus expressed that they will continue to stand by the related communities in Bulgaria in their education, culture, youth, and civil society efforts.
