Turks in Europe Rise to Brilliant Achievement

YTB President Abdullah Eren attended an Eid El-Fitr gathering in Brussels, the capital town of Belgium, and said the Turkish presence in Europe dating back to over 60 years ago is a brilliant achievement.

Serving as the Head of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Abdullah Eren attended an Eid El-Fitr gathering held by the Turkish Embassy in Brussels on day two of the Eid El-Fitr. Taking the floor during the ceremony, Mr. Eren congratulated the Turkish community in Belgium on their 60th anniversary of presence in Europe, and reminded that nearly 5 million Turks live across Europe.

Mr. Eren noted that the size of the Turkish presence is as large as a medium-sized country, and added: “The Turkish presence in Europe has become everlasting over the past 60 years. Belgium is a key part of it. The Turks in Europe rise to brilliant achievement. Being able to accomplish so many things in such a short time, holding onto it, and staying true to their identity is a major feat.

Mr. Eren said Ramadan was a period of sorrow because of what has been going on in Gaza and the incidents caused by the PKK terrorist organization’s adherents in some European towns, and added a variety of events would be held in Belgium, Austria, and the Netherlands to mark the 60th anniversary of the Turkish immigration.
